ABOUT
JAGO MAKER
Jago Maker was first founded by Kelly Jago in 2020. Before starting the company, Kelly worked as a professional freelance designer and maker with over 17 years’ experience, working in film, TV, theatre and live events. While working across departments within those industries, Kelly has built up a wide skillset. From costume and prop-making; set design and building; scenic painting and puppetry; millinery and wig making. Kelly has now chosen to specialise in the wonderful world of the 'in-between', merging costume and prop making which is called 'Costume-Props’. This niche genre encapsulates her multi-departmental experience and her ability to creatively problem solve.
Kelly has always been creative and as a child took great joy in sewing, painting, model making and dress up. Her love of headwear started when she won an Xmas bonnet competition with a headdress featuring a full roast dinner!
Creativity runs in the family, Kelly's Mum and Grandma were both seamstresses. Her Dad's Dad was a fine artist specialising in watercolour and model making, her Mum's Dad was a master carpenter and could turn his hand to all crafts but specialised in leather work and jewellery making.
Jago Maker is a growing business and will soon be relocating to a larger studio space in Bristol to allow more freelancers to join the team!
